1st @ USASA in Breckenridge on Australia Day!

January 26th 2013.

I dont remember the last time i actually had Australia day in Australia but its still my favourite day of the season living in america!

The night before i decided to compete in a local usasa event to try and qualify for nationals.
There were 5 other local girls competing in open womens one of them being a fellow aussie!

Being australia day and not a serious comp i wanted to have some fun wearing as many aussie flags as i possible could, having then on the back of my bindings and wrapped around my leg and as a cape.

I was able to calm down from all the aussie excitment and focus on landing a run for the comp which i was able to land both my runs including a new combo ive been trying to land the past few World Cups.

My run was Air, Back 5, Air, Air, Front 3, Haakon Flip (Switch inverted 720), Crippler 7 (Inverted 720). It was the first time i landed back to back 7s in competition and it was more than enough to take home the Gold.

It was a great feeling standing on the top of the podium on Australia Day!

16th @ World Champs in Stoneham Canada!

This year World Champs were held in Stoneham Canada. i was super excited to get back to Stoneham Quebec as i had a great time there last year and i absolutly love Quebec City!

We first flew into Montreal to organise our Russian Visas for the test event in russia next month. Thankfully all of the visas were approved and we were able to continue onto Stoneham.

We experience a bit of crazy weather leading up to the comp and were unable to have good quality practice days, but all my preperations leading up to this event kept me calm and knew i could pull it out on the day.
I landed my first run being my safety run i was stoked to have scored a 52 which was my highest score in a world cup so far. For my second run i added my crippler 7 last hit and was unable to land on my feet leaving me with my first runs score!

I finished 16th overall and the 3rd ranked aussie.

27th @ Copper World Cup / Grand Prix

Last week i competed in the Copper World Cup whioch was also a US Grand Prix event so it counted for FIS and TTR World Snowboard Tour Points!

I had a solid amount of training leading up to this first even of the season and i was confident on the day of the event as my preperation was spot on.

I finished 27th out of 45 girls. I was very happy to have landed my first run of Air, Back 5, Air, Air, Front 3, Haakon Flip.
Going into my secound run i wanted to step it up as i had already landed my saftey run and recieved my highest score in a world cup so i decided to switch my run around and drop in on the other wall so i could add my Crippler 7 at the end. Unfortunatly i fell on my last hit being the crippler 7 but was still happy with how i competed and my result.

This event was the 2nd event of the Olympic Qualifyers and there were 4 Australians competing and i finished the 2nd highest ranked aussie which i was very happy about!

My next event is World Champs in Stoneham Quebec, CANADA!

Here are some photos from the Copper World Cup.

Preparations for the First World Cup

Ive been in Colorado for over a month now and my first comp for the season is less that a week away.
I will be competing in the World Cup at Copper Mountain on the 10th of January. I’ve spent most my time training at Breckenridge and Copper piecing my run together trick by trick, and i am feeling confident and prepared for the upcoming event.

Here are a few shots my dad (Harry Magiros) took from training today at Breckenridge.

24th @ NZ World Cup

I finnished 24th in the World Cuo in Cardrona, NZ. It was the first Olympic qualifyer and i am happy with the result to start the season off.

My run consisted of Air, Air, Back 5, Front 5, Air, Front 3, Haakon Flip (Switch inverted 720)
I had a few minor stuff ups in my run and didnt have the amplitute that i would have liked but after landing a new trick in my run from only learning it 3 days before i was stoked on the result, and it just leaves room for improvement for the next world cup which will be in early December in Ruka, Finland.

Here are a few shots dad took the day after the competition and also hanging at lake wanaka watching an endurance jet ski race by some crazy local New Zealanders (the water was freezing!)

New Zealand & Haakon Flips (inverted switch 720)

A few days ago while training at cardrona, it was a great sunny day and the right wall of the pipe had become softer, i had been working on my back to back 5s and i also landed a few michalchuks so my coach (Ben Boyd) and i thought it was a perfect time to try some Haakon flips (inverted switch 720) I was so stoked to finally get the feeling for that trick as i had tried some in the past but just couldn’t get the feeling down.
I didn’t land any the first day i tried them but went back to cardrona the following day and was so determinded to land my new trick that i landed it second try! Landing a new trick after having only a few attempts at it in the past was a great feeling and its my new favourite trick!

The world cup is in 3 days time and we have official training the next 2 days so i will be concentrating on putting my run together and preparing for the first Olympic Qualifying event!

Dad arrives tomorrow so i will have some on snow photos coming soon.
